Overjet
Caused by upper front teeth protrusion or a lower jaw that is not far enough forward relative to the upper jaw. Either way this results in the appearance that the upper front teeth “protrude” too far forward over the lower teeth.
Deepbite
The upper front teeth extend down too far over the lower front teeth, sometimes causing the lower front teeth to bite into the roof of the mouth.
Crossbite
The upper teeth sit inside or outside the lower teeth, which may cause excessive tooth wear and misaligned jaw growth.
Openbite
Proper chewing is impacted by this type of bite, in which the upper and lower front teeth do not overlap. Openbite may cause a number of problems such as excessive wear of the back teeth or reduced ability to chew food adequately.
Other Problems
Crowding
Crowding occurs when teeth have insufficient room to come into their proper positions. Crowding can often be corrected by orthodontic treatment, and many times tooth removal can be avoided.
Spacing
Spacing problems may be caused by missing teeth, or they may only be a cosmetic or aesthetic issue.
Dental midlines not matched
The center of the upper front teeth do not line up properly with the center of the lower front teeth.
