First Visit

Your first visit to Hamilton Orthodontics is very special. During this visit, you will have some time to get to know our team as you tour our office & meet our friendly staff. We want to fully inform and educate you about our staff and office procedures.

We will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of your orthodontic needs. This examination includes digital x-rays & photographs that help us create treatment goals specific to your needs. Unlike most dental and medical exams, our initial comprehensive exam is complimentary. We will discuss your treatment options and cost estimates, as well as answer the following questions during the initial exam.

  • Do I have a condition that orthodontics can address?
  • Is treatment needed now or should it be delayed to a more optimal time based on growth and eruption?
  • What treatment procedures will be used to correct the problem if treatment is recommended now?
  • Do any permanent or baby teeth need to be removed?
  • How long will treatment take?
  • What are my payment options?

Should we determine that you or your child are ready to begin treatment: diagnostic records would be the next step. Records include any other necessary x-rays as well as impressions for study models. If time is available these two visits can be combined to save you valuable time for our normal diagnostic records fee.

While we can often answer the above general questions about treatment during the initial exam, we will address more specific areas of you or your child’s treatment after careful analysis of the diagnostic records. We feel it is important to analyze each patient’s specific needs.

CONSULTATION

At Hamilton Orthodontics, we take your diagnosis and treatment very seriously. We will take the time to review all of your diagnostic records and customize your treatment plan which will be presented at the consultation appointment. We will explain our concerns and answer your questions so that you have a complete understanding of your treatment options. In-depth individualized treatment planning leads to excellent results and higher patient satisfaction.

On average, orthodontic treatment at our office usually lasts 18 months, but treatment time can vary depending on your specific needs. You can help keep treatment time as short as possible through excellent cooperation, taking good care of your appliances and maintaining good oral hygiene. Working together we can achieve a beautiful healthy smile that will last a lifetime.

During your consultation appointment, we will also explain our flexible, interest-free financial plans that help make your care more affordable. Treatment cost varies with the complexity of your individual treatment. Many Insurance plans cover a portion of the fee. As a courtesy to our patients we do accept insurance benefits which will be deducted from your total cost at the beginning of treatment.
